West Ham United’s unfortunate streak in the Premier League continued as they failed to clinch a victory for the eighth consecutive match, settling for a 1-1 stalemate against Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium. This result brought an end to Spurs’ four-match losing stretch away from home in the league.
The home crowd was vocal for a penalty just seven minutes in, believing that Yves Bissouma had handled a cross by Mohammed Kudus. However, their appeals were dismissed, and it was Tottenham who struck first before the 15-minute mark.
Djed Spence launched a long ball aimed at Mathys Tel, who persevered and managed to force an error from Max Kilman.
Tel then calmly played a pass to fellow Frenchman Wilson Odobert, who took a touch from six yards out before slotting it home, marking his first league goal in a Tottenham shirt.
The Hammers quickly rallied, but another appeal for a handball against Tottenham went unheeded, with Ben Davies the fortunate party this time.
Just before the 30-minute mark, captain Jarrod Bowen equalised from a tight angle after receiving a perfectly weighted pass from Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Richarlison had two significant chances to put the visitors ahead before half-time, first sending Spence’s delivery over the bar, then watching as his cross-shot sailed past the far post.

Following the interval, the first notable chance fell to West Ham as Kudus found Bowen at the back post, but his volleyed effort veered just wide of Guglielmo Vicario’s left upright.
Kudus was a persistent threat to Tottenham, and in the 70th minute, his well-placed cross met Niclas Füllkrug, but the German failed to direct his header on target.
Tottenham were missing Son Heung-min, and James Maddison along with Dominic Solanke were not risked after sustaining injuries in Thursday’s UEFA Europa League semi-final.
Ange Postecoglou’s squad could have benefitted from their presence as they found it difficult to create meaningful chances in the second half.
Pape Matar Sarr’s powerful long-range attempt that soared over the bar was the closest they came to finding a winner in a lacklustre domestic performance.
Bowen had another opportunity late in the game with less than 10 minutes remaining when he headed towards the near post, but Vicario reacted swiftly to deflect it away.
In the end, West Ham’s search for their first win since February continues, though this match extends their unbeaten home record against Spurs to five fixtures.
They remain in 17th place, a point and a position below Tottenham, whose attention now shifts to their upcoming European commitments.
