West Coast’s Tyler Brockman is likely to find himself in front of the Match Review Officer (MRO) following a jumper punch that went awry during his team’s encounter with Richmond.
The incident unfolded off the ball in the opening quarter as Brockman and Tiger’s Luke Trainor became entangled.
The 22-year-old delivered a punch that appeared to catch Trainor square on the chin, sending the debutant Richmond defender to the ground.
If deemed careless with medium impact, Brockman could receive a one-match suspension from MRO Michael Christian, while an intentional grading could see him sidelined for two games.
Hawthorn legend Dermott Brereton has suggested that Brockman may avoid a lengthy ban since an umpire positioned close by observed the incident and opted not to take any action.

Brett Brereton commented on Fox Footy, saying, “You need to be extremely cautious. It was a bit of a jumper punch, and the umpire was only 15 metres away, yet he took no disciplinary action.”
After the incident, Brockman glanced back at the fallen Trainor, gesturing for him to rise, while Richmond veteran Nick Vlastuin intervened to steer the Eagle away.
In his career thus far, Brockman has made 41 appearances, with 15 of those being for West Coast after beginning his journey at the Hawks.
