Western Sydney Wanderers have named Geoff Abrahams as the head coach of the club’s Ninja A-League team following a promising stint as interim coach.
Abrahams stepped into the interim role back in January after Robbie Hooker departed from the position.
As the technical director of Western Sydney’s girls’ academy, Abrahams’ appointment further strengthens the bond between the Wanderers academy and the senior team. He oversaw an impressive run of three consecutive wins in February, significantly improving the team’s performance and securing nine out of a possible 15 points this season thus far.

Abrahams’ permanent contract is slated to extend until the conclusion of the 2025-26 Ninja A-League season.
“I am extremely thankful for this opportunity,” Abrahams remarked. “Moreover, it’s with the Wanderers – a club that holds a special place in my heart and a region I take great pride in.”
“Western Sydney boasts a rich football culture, and I have witnessed the immense passion for the game in this area. It’s a privilege to lead this team and contribute to the future of women’s football in our community.”
“It’s a thrilling time for our Academy as it forges clear pathways for young female footballers to progress into professional ranks. We’re creating something remarkable, and I’m eager to engage with our young athletes to ensure they receive the support and chances to reach the highest levels of the game.”
“Women’s football is evolving at an extraordinary pace, and Western Sydney ought to be a leader in this movement. I’m eager to play a pivotal role in advancing the sport, cultivating our players, and making sure the Wanderers remain a club that offers opportunities for female footballers to excel.”
Western Sydney Wanderers CEO, Scott Hudson, praised Abrahams for his performance while serving as interim head coach and expressed his enthusiasm for the club’s future under his leadership.
“Geoff has excelled in guiding our Ninja A-League team and fostering a strong connection with our newly launched Wanderers Girls Academy,” Hudson stated.
“His dedication to player development and his vision for the women’s game align seamlessly with our club’s long-term ambitions.”
“We look forward to seeing him build on this solid foundation as we head into the next season.”
