No.8 Harry Wilson has been named captain of the Wallabies for their upcoming Test match against Fiji this Sunday in Newcastle, with Tate McDermott and Noah Lolesio set to take on the playmaking roles.
The selection of these players in the starting lineup suggests that coach Joe Schmidt may be favouring them for key positions in the first British and Irish Lions Test, scheduled for Brisbane on July 19.
In an exciting development, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, a former league player, is set to make his home debut for the Wallabies, partnering with Len Ikitau in the midfield.
At just 21 years old, Suaalii will play at No.13 after a Super Rugby season at fullback with the Waratahs, having also recovered from a broken jaw.
Schmidt has opted for a seasoned front row, bringing back former captain David Porecki, who last played for the Wallabies 643 days ago.
The 32-year-old Porecki’s last appearance was during the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where Australia was unable to progress beyond the group stages.

Porecki missed out on 2024 play due to injuries to his Achilles and calf.
