England is set to face Andorra at Villa Park in a World Cup qualifier on September 6, marking the first senior men’s international match at the Midlands venue in two decades.
This encounter will be the second occasion this year that Thomas Tuchel’s England team plays a home fixture away from Wembley Stadium; Nottingham Forest’s City Ground will host a friendly against Senegal on June 10.
“We are thrilled to be playing at Villa Park, a stadium steeped in history,” Tuchel commented regarding the home ground of Premier League club Aston Villa.
“From my own visits to the stadium this season, I know it can generate an incredible atmosphere, and its proximity to (England’s training base) St. George’s Park is a great advantage for our preparations.”
Currently, England leads Group K in the qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup, having secured victories over Albania and Latvia at Wembley. Next, they will confront the bottom-placed Andorra in Barcelona on June 7.
