Understanding the New UCL 24/25 Draw Format: What’s Changed?
This season, UEFA has revamped its third-tier competition significantly. The traditional 32-team group stage has been replaced with a 36-team league format. Each side will play six matches, with the top eight advancing directly to the Round of 16, while the lowest 12 teams will be eliminated.
Teams finishing between ninth and 24th will enter a playoff round to determine which eight will progress to the knockout stages.
As in the previous format, the Round of 16 will feature seeded teams facing off against unseeded teams, progressing to the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and ultimately the final.
Schedule for the UEFA Conference League Knockout Phase Playoffs
The two-legged playoff matches are set to be held in February, with the first leg on February 13th and the return leg on February 20th.
Kick-off times will be at either 18:45 CET or 21:00 CET, as determined following the draw.
The knockout phase will continue in a bracket format until the final. Teams that finish between ninth and 16th will be seeded, going up against those in the final standings from 17th to 24th.
Seeded teams will play their home fixtures second, with details confirmed post-draw.
