FC Den Bosch, contenders for promotion in the Netherlands, have parted ways with technical director Bernard Schuiteman just a month ahead of the playoff matches.
Last week, FC Den Bosch announced that Schuiteman’s departure was on the cards. Having initially been brought on in a temporary role, the club and Schuiteman mutually agreed to end their collaboration post-season, enabling him to take up a technical director position with another club.
However, with the playoffs for promotion to the Eredivisie looming, FC Den Bosch declared on Tuesday that Schuiteman has been dismissed with immediate effect.
“It has become clear that Bernard has definitively opted to join a direct competitor for the upcoming season. Given this situation, we deem it incompatible with our club’s interests and have made the decision to terminate his contract immediately,” stated FC Den Bosch on their official website.
The ‘direct competitor’ in question has been identified as Eredivisie club RKC Waalwijk, who announced Schuiteman’s appointment just an hour following his dismissal from Den Bosch. Schuiteman will take over from Mo Allach, who is set to join FC Groningen after the season concludes.
This marks the second significant departure of the season for FC Den Bosch, following the earlier sacking of manager David Nascimento in November. The club secured the first period of the current Keuken Kampioen Divisie season, guaranteeing them a place in the promotion playoffs for the Eredivisie.
Currently, FC Den Bosch sits ninth in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie rankings. The playoffs for promotion to the Eredivisie are scheduled to commence on May 12th. Should FC Den Bosch succeed in their bid for promotion, it will mark their return to the Eredivisie for the first time since 2005.
