The Premier League match between Tottenham and Aston Villa has been rescheduled for May 16, as announced by the English top flight on Tuesday. This adjustment gives the North London outfit additional time to gear up for a possible Europa League final.
Spurs, who hold a 3-1 advantage over Norwegian team FK Bodo/Glimt from their semi-final first leg, were initially set to visit Villa Park for their last away league match of the season on May 18.
The Europa League final is slated for May 21 in Bilbao, Spain, with the second leg of the semi-finals taking place on Thursday.
In the other semi-final, Manchester United lead Athletic Bilbao 3-0 after the first leg.
“The fixture will be played on Friday, 16 May, following a request from Spurs in light of their potential participation in the UEFA Europa League final on Wednesday, 21 May,” stated the Premier League.
It has been 17 years since Tottenham last lifted a major trophy.
