The CEO of Tottenham, Vinai Venkatesham, has disclosed that Thomas Frank was selected from over 30 candidates to take the reins as the club’s manager following the departure of Ange Postecoglou.
Last week, Tottenham appointed Frank as their new head coach, which required them to pay their London rivals Brentford £10 million. This announcement came shortly after the Spurs made the decision to part ways with Postecoglou, even though he had guided the team to victory in the Europa League, marking their first significant trophy triumph in 17 years.
“We conducted an incredibly comprehensive process in a timely manner,” Venkatesham stated. “We identified ten essential characteristics that are vital for a successful manager at Tottenham Hotspur. Our technical staff, led by Johan Lange, meticulously analysed over 30 candidates.”
“We narrowed it down to a shortlist and dedicated considerable time to evaluating those candidates, with Thomas emerging as our top choice. I am absolutely thrilled to welcome him to the club.”
“I concur with everything Daniel has mentioned regarding his attributes. Personally, I am particularly enthusiastic about his exceptional ability to develop young talent. I eagerly anticipate seeing how he will work with our current squad.”
Tottenham has officially announced that Frank’s inaugural match as manager will be against Luton Town on Saturday, 26 July, taking place at Kenilworth Road, with kick-off scheduled for 3 pm.
