Tom Trbojevic’s struggle with injuries has once again come to light after an interview with Nine’s Andrew Johns revealed a knee concern before Manly faced the Eels.
During the warm-up, Johns approached the Manly fullback, pointing to his knee and noting that it was unusual for him to have it strapped.
“Something happened yesterday, but it feels fine, so I’m good to go,” Trbojevic responded.
When probed about the incident, he added that he had just bumped it a bit, before quipping, “It’s a funny story. I’ll fill you in later.”

Trbojevic played a crucial role in both of Manly’s initial tries, but was later seen getting his other knee strapped by a club trainer.
In the 25th minute, Dylan Brown executed a kick into the in-goal as Trbojevic limped towards the ball, with Jason Saab retrieving it.
“He’ll need to come off; he can’t run,” commented Johns.

On the fifth tackle of that set, Ethan Bullemor broke through the defence, with Trbojevic trying to support but receiving a difficult pass.
The fullback appeared to be struggling and was unable to find his full stride.

“He wasn’t galloping; he was recovering slowly,” added Johns.
Just five minutes later, Nine’s sideline reporter Emma Lawrence mentioned that Trbojevic had spoken with Manly’s medical team, suggesting he could hold out until half-time.
“The fact he’s still on the field means it’s likely not too serious,” commented Billy Slater.
Trbojevic headed straight down the tunnel as the half-time break arrived.
