The Tigers’ head coach, Benji Marshall, has chosen not to elaborate on his controversial decision to reinstate previously sidelined star, Lachlan Galvin, just a week after dropping him to reserve grade.
On Easter Monday, the 19-year-old competed for the Western Suburbs Magpies, contributing to their 22-10 loss against the Eels at Lidcombe Oval. Not long after, the senior team endured a parallel fate at CommBank Stadium.
During Galvin’s absence, Mitchell Moses returned to dominate the match, leaving Jarome Luai and Adam Doueihi struggling to keep up.
When addressing the media on Saturday morning, Marshall expressed his frustration, stating he was “over discussing” Galvin’s comeback.
“Why should I be concerned about public opinion?,” he responded when questioned about Galvin’s inclusion in the team.

“I’ve repeated myself every week… I’ll select the team I believe is best for us. It’s time to move on. Our focus is on getting the win this week.
“People are curious about my selections, but the reasoning isn’t something I have to divulge. I’ve chosen the lineup that I think is most suitable for us, and that’s that.

“We’re genuinely focused on what we can control now, which is our performance on the field.”
How the long-suffering fans of the Tigers will react when Galvin steps onto Leichhardt Oval this Sunday remains uncertain.

Marshall believes the atmosphere will be “largely positive”.
“A bit of time has passed since last week, so we’re ready to back him,” he shared.
“He’s part of our team. We expect him to perform to his usual standards, and that’s exactly what we need from him. A try assist or score early on would certainly help set the tone.
“Last week was undoubtedly impactful for everyone involved.
“It’s time to focus on our game, especially with Leichhardt Oval hosting Anzac Day events and Alex [Twal] reaching his 150th match. There’s plenty for us to celebrate this week.”
