On Friday, Thomas Frank expressed that he had “left a significant part of my heart” at Brentford as he embarks on the challenging journey of rejuvenating Tottenham’s Premier League ambitions.
Spurs announced the appointment of the Danish coach on Thursday on a three-year contract, succeeding the dismissed Ange Postecoglou.
During his seven years at Brentford, the 51-year-old achieved 136 victories out of 317 games, leading the club to its Premier League debut in 2021.
In a heartfelt statement on Brentford’s website, Frank shared: “The time has come for me to move on. Yet, as I depart, I carry a significant piece of my heart with me, not just for the football club but for the community and, of course, the amazing and steadfast supporters.”
“I wish to express my deep gratitude to the club for providing me the opportunity to chase my dreams, and to everyone involved for making the journey so unforgettable.”
He noted that it had been a privilege to be part of such a “remarkable community.”
“All we have accomplished, we have done together, and our success is grounded in unity, spirit, courage, and ambition at every level of the club and among our fans,” he said.
“Everyone has played a part, and every contribution has been essential. I am not merely leaving a football club; I am bidding farewell to friends whose support through both good times and challenges I will always cherish.”
Now, as Tottenham’s fourth permanent manager since 2021, Frank faces the task of restoring the club to its rightful place among the Premier League’s top teams.
Thanks to their Europa League triumph in Bilbao, where they clinched a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the final, Spurs will compete in the Champions League next season.
This marks their first European trophy in 41 years, fulfilling Postecoglou’s claim that he consistently wins silverware in his second season.
However, the Australian coach paid the price for a dismal Premier League campaign, which saw Tottenham finish 17th after suffering 22 losses in 38 matches.
Tottenham ended the season seven places and 18 points behind Frank’s Brentford.
