Melbourne City star Holly McNamara has re-signed with the two-time Ninja A-League champions, providing a significant boost to the club’s ambitions.
McNamara will be donning the City blue for her fifth season after clinching the Golden Boot for the 2024-25 season.
The 22-year-old forward for the CommBank Matildas made a remarkable comeback from her third anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the last season, scoring an impressive 15 goals in just 17 matches, which placed her at the top of the league’s scoring leaderboard.

“My experience at Melbourne City has been truly remarkable, and I’m thrilled to be signing on for a fifth season,” remarked McNamara.
“The unwavering support from the club – through both the triumphs and the challenges – has meant so much to me, making this decision a straightforward one.
“I firmly believe that my best football is still ahead of me, and I’m eager to chase more silverware with this extraordinary team.”

McNamara played a pivotal role in helping City secure consecutive Ninja A-League Premierships and contributed to the club’s remarkable run to the AFC Women’s Champions League final in the 2024-25 season.
Since her debut for City, the 11-time international has recorded 27 goals, only four behind the all-time club record.
Just last week, McNamara netted her first goal for the Matildas against Slovenia, a full 1,253 days after her debut on January 21, 2022.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Holly has committed to another season with us,” said director of football Michael Petrillo.
“She represents one of the most exhilarating talents in the nation, but what has particularly stood out over the past year is her development as a leader within the team.
“She upholds high standards, fosters our culture, and embodies a genuine winning mindset – attributes that have been vital to our success in recent seasons.”
