Warriors fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad possesses what might be the most curious wish of any player participating in the Las Vegas showdown this weekend.
Having spent six seasons with the Raiders, where he garnered significant recognition, Nicoll-Klokstad is keen to contribute to the leadership debut of new Canberra captain Joe Tapine.
“Joe is a great mate of mine, and I genuinely wish him well—but not too well,” Nicoll-Klokstad remarked with a cheeky smile during his chat with Wide World of Sports.
“I know how important this moment is for him, and it’ll be fantastic to share the field with him. I don’t want to be the one spoiling his celebration… but that’s the nature of footy.”
“I missed both encounters against the Raiders last year, so I’m really looking forward to this one. I still have many mates at the club, and it’ll be great to catch up.”

“I know Ricky (Stuart) will have the Raiders fired up, and we’re in for a tough challenge,” he added.
Last season, Nicoll-Klokstad stood out as one of the more impressive players for the Raiders amid a disappointing campaign, and he believes the entire squad is eager to improve this year.
“We had a strong sense of belief and resilience in 2023 that seemed to fade away last season,” he reflected. “Personally, I thought my own form was decent, but ultimately, we’re assessed as a unit, so I accept responsibility for last year alongside my teammates.”
“However, this marks the beginning of a fresh season. It’s Vegas, and this is the match I have been eagerly anticipating.”
