Manly has surfaced as the surprising frontrunner to secure the signature of Wests Tigers prodigy Lachlan Galvin for the 2027 season and beyond.
A number of teams are poised to throw their hats in the ring for Galvin when he becomes available in November after Monday’s unexpected parting of ways with the Tigers – yet the Sea Eagles have two significant advantages.
Firstly, the 19-year-old talent remains closely connected to his former school, Westfield Sports High, where he enjoyed significant success and was selected for the Australian Schoolboys team.

He frequently returns to the school to mentor younger players looking to develop in the sport.
Two of the coaches who were at Westfield during his time there, Steve Hales and Wayne Lambkin, are currently on the coaching staff at Manly and are likely to advocate for the club when the moment arrives.

Secondly, Galvin’s agent, Isaac Moses, also represents Manly’s head coach, Anthony Seibold.
Tiger’s management are furious with Moses for rejecting the largest offer in the club’s history for one of their home-grown talents.

The club viewed Galvin as a potential future captain and was preparing an extensive five-year contract rumoured to be valued around $5 million.
Galvin would be an excellent acquisition for the Sea Eagles, particularly with Daly Cherry-Evans considering a move next season and his halves counterpart, Luke Brooks, nearing the end of his playing days.
Additionally, Manly recently lost promising halfback Jamie Humphreys to South Sydney.
They also faced the departure of emerging talent Latu Fainu to the Tigers.
