Although James Fisher-Harris has departed, his legacy continues to resonate within the Panthers as they forge ahead into 2025.
The reigning champions will face Cronulla this weekend without their star prop, and many are sceptical about whether they can maintain their dominance without his presence in the front row.
However, the spirit of the imposing figure is still very much alive at the foot of the mountains—just ask first-year front-rower Luron Patea.
“Losing James is significant, but he has left behind so much for this club,” the 20-year-old with just three games under his belt shared with Wide World of Sports.

“He might not say much, but his presence is unmistakable both on and off the field.
“He helped me tremendously, teaching me invaluable lessons about the game.
“He took me under his wing, and I’m incredibly thankful—without his guidance, I doubt I would be in first grade or heading to Vegas.”
So what life lessons did JFH impart to the rookie of Samoan heritage, who will don the number 17 jersey from the bench for the upcoming match?

“He always stressed the importance of hard work—not just during the game, but in preparation as well. I’ve taken that to heart,” he explained.
“Every moment you’re out there, you have to play your part for the team. If you do that, success will follow.”
Each season, despite teams attempting to draw away their stars with lucrative offers, the Panthers consistently churn out unknown talents and elevate them to quality first-graders.
Luron knows he has a long journey ahead, but he may very well be the next success story to emerge from the club.
