Team WRT has triumphed in the 2025 Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour, with drivers Kelvin van der Linde, his brother Sheldon van der Linde, and Augusto Farfus clinching first place.
The #32 BMW M4 GT3 completed a remarkable total of 306 laps, while the team’s second vehicle, piloted by Valentino Rossi, Charles Weerts, and Raffaele Marciello, secured a commendable second place.
This achievement marks Team WRT’s third-ever 1-2 finish, adding to the history of the Bathurst 12 Hour and making it a memorable event.
It’s worth noting that this was Team WRT’s first return to the mountain since 2018, as well as BMW’s first appearance in the GT3 era of the 12 Hour race.
The victorious #32 BMW led for an impressive 175 laps, the second highest in the event’s history. However, the race intensified in the final hour, with teams juggling fuel strategies.
During the concluding hour, van der Linde maintained a six-second lead over Chaz Mostert, but Mostert challenged him on lap 286, ultimately taking the lead the following lap.
As Mostert established a 3.5-second lead, Arise Racing called him in with 23 minutes remaining, returning the lead to van der Linde.
The #26 Arise Racing GT concluded the 12-hour endurance race in fourth place, with Mostert registering the fastest lap of the race, clocking in at 2:02.2740 on lap 299.
In the final half hour, Arise Racing GT, Absolute Racing, and pole-sitters Craft-Bamboo Racing all made pit stops for refuelling, allowing Kelvin van der Linde to finish 10.2 seconds ahead of the competition.
In the Pro class, the #75 Energy Mercedes-AMG team, comprising Jules Gounon, Luca Stolz, and Kenny Habul, celebrated a remarkable fourth consecutive podium finish, achieving 306 laps, following their victories in 2022 and 2023, along with a second-place finish in 2024.
In the Bronze class, the #27 Heart of Racing by SPS, driving the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO, topped its division, finishing seventh overall with a total of 305 laps.
The #36 Arise Racing Ferrari, driven by Jaxon Evans, Alessio Rovera, Elliott Schutte, and Brad Schumacher, clinched victory in the Pro-Am category, finishing eighth overall. Meanwhile, the #93 Wall Racing Lamborghini took the Silver class win, coming in ninth overall.
GT4 accolades were claimed by the #24 Method Motorsport McLaren, driven by Jake Santalucia, Anthony Levitt, and Josh Buchan, while the only Invitational entry, the #50 KTM, wrapped up the event in 15th position overall.
