Sydney FC’s rising star Indiana Dos Santos has faced a heartbreaking setback, having been diagnosed with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The 17-year-old will now be sidelined for an extended period following the knee injury sustained during a training camp with the Future Matildas program last week.
Despite Sydney FC’s challenging season in the Ninja A-League, where they finished eighth, Dos Santos displayed moments of brilliance and earned the title of Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
“This is a chapter I never anticipated,” Dos Santos shared while announcing her injury on Instagram.
“I’m heartbroken to announce that I have ruptured my ACL. While it’s a painful blow, I draw strength from my faith.
“I have faith in God’s plan, even when I struggle to comprehend it. This road ahead will be tough, but with the love and encouragement surrounding me, I know I can overcome anything!”

She added, “I’d like to express my gratitude for all the messages I’ve received; they truly mean a lot to me and uplift my spirits more than you can imagine.”
Last season, Dos Santos made 22 appearances for the Sky Blues, netting three goals and providing three assists.
