Sydney FC have secured the signing of American goalkeeper Heather Hinz ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 Ninja A-League season.
Hinz has joined the Sky Blues on a one-year contract after leaving National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) side Houston Dash.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper, who parted ways with Houston in May following her 38th pick in the 2024 draft, brings a wealth of elite experience from a remarkable college career.
She was named the 2023 Southeastern Conference Goalkeeper of the Year, boasting 10 clean sheets in 20 appearances, and led the conference in both clean sheets and save percentage during her tenure with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
“I’m thrilled to join Sydney FC—it’s a new country, a fresh environment, and a challenge that I’m truly excited about,” Hinz expressed.
“This club has always made an impression on me, and following in the footsteps of American goalkeeping legends like Aubrey Kingsbury (formerly Bledsoe) and Michelle Betos is incredibly exciting.
“I aim to learn, grow, and contribute towards winning a Championship.”
Hinz marks Sydney FC’s first signing of the off-season, coming after the re-signings of Shay Hollman, Caley Tallon-Henniker, Amber Luchtmeijer, and Rubi Sullivan.
“Heather is an exceptional goalkeeper, and we are absolutely delighted to welcome her to the squad,” stated head coach Ante Juric.
“She will bring a high level of quality, experience, and professionalism to the club. Her time in the NWSL has acquainted her with top-level professionals and fierce competition.
“We are confident that her know-how and winning mindset will raise our standards in goal.”
