Swedish pole vault sensation Armand “Mondo” Duplantis kicked off Saturday (AEDT) by launching his debut single, before going on to break the world record for the pole vault for the 11th time.
Duplantis achieved an impressive height of 6.27 metres at the All Star Perche event in Clermont-Ferrand, France, surpassing his own record by one centimetre.
As he cleared the remarkable height, fireworks erupted, stadium lights flashed in celebration, and the crowd erupted with joy.
His new track, fittingly titled Bop, was pumping through the venue as he soared over the bar.
With a certain exuberance, Duplantis celebrated, reminiscent of his joyful reaction when he set the world record on his way to Olympic gold in Paris last year.
The two-time Olympic and world champion successfully cleared 6.27 metres on his first attempt at that height.

“I felt really good,” Duplantis commented. “What more can I say? I came here to achieve this, and I had everything aligned to make it happen. My run-up was spot on. I just did it.”
The 25-year-old revealed that he had long envisioned making a world-record attempt with his new song playing in the background.
“When I created this song a couple of months ago, I thought it would be the perfect track to jump to here,” a breathless Duplantis explained after setting the record.
“That’s why I was keen to release it.”
Duplantis’ record of 6.27 metres is a staggering 11 centimetres ahead of the previous second-best vault in history — the 6.16 metres set by French athlete Renaud Lavillenie in 2014.
Emmanouil Karalis finished in second place on Saturday (AEDT) with a jump of 6.02 metres, setting a new Greek national record, while Australia’s Kurtis Marschall rounded off the podium with a clearance of 5.91 metres.
