Archer May, the step-son of Dermott Brereton, has secured his spot in the AFL after being chosen in the mid-season draft.
Collingwood had been linked to May, but their pick didn’t come until No. 8.
Ultimately, it was Essendon that made the move, selecting him at pick 6.

Earlier this week, May acknowledged the significant role Brereton has played in his growth as a player.
“It’s a lot of hard work and sacrifices that contribute to this journey. I feel like it’s about validating those who are close to me,” May conveyed during an interview with 9News Melbourne on Monday.
“Dermott’s influence has been immense in my development, particularly in the past few years as I’ve taken my football aspirations more seriously.”
As anticipated, West Coast chose Tom McCarthy with the first pick.
