This year has been quite challenging for Ryan McCormick on the Korn Ferry Tour, prompting him to take a rather unconventional approach to manage his frustrations – by taping his mouth shut over the weekend.
The Korn Ferry Tour shared footage of McCormick with clear tape across his mouth, where he candidly explained his unusual tactic.
“It’s been a tough year on the golf course, filled with frustration and anger,” he admitted. “I’ve tried various methods to deal with it, and I thought, why not just silence myself? So, I resorted to putting tape over my mouth.”
Did this peculiar strategy have any effect? Judging by his score, it didn’t seem to help. After shooting a one-over 73 at the Club Car Championship, he followed up with a 72, which would likely see him miss the cut.
McCormick, who returned to the Korn Ferry Tour after competing on the PGA Tour, has only been able to play on the weekend three times out of six starts, and hasn’t managed to finish inside the top 40 yet.

He mentioned that he had explored different methods, including reading books and seeking guidance from others, but none yielded the desired results.
“I’ve exhausted my ideas, and the tape concept came to me a couple of weeks ago,” he noted. “Unfortunately, it came to that today. I hoped it might assist me, but I can’t really say if it did or didn’t.”
One driving factor behind this unusual strategy was McCormick’s desire not to negatively impact his playing partners.
“I was having a rough time, and that was my solution for the day,” he explained.
