Melbourne City have revealed that captain Rebekah Stott has secured a two-year contract extension, ensuring her presence at the club until the conclusion of the Ninja A-League 2026-27 season.
The New Zealand international currently holds the record for the most appearances by a woman for City, amassing an impressive total of 125 matches in the club’s colours.

Incredibly, Stott ranks fifth on City’s all-time appearances chart, across both the men’s and women’s senior teams – a remarkable achievement given that the Ninja A-League only transitioned to a comprehensive home-and-away season format two seasons ago.
“I’m incredibly proud to be continuing my journey with Melbourne City,” Stott expressed.
“This club is incredibly significant to me; it’s where I’ve created lifelong memories, lifted silverware, and it truly feels like home.”
“Striving for success is ingrained in the culture at City, and I’m not finished yet. We’ve accomplished so much together, but my hunger for more remains. I’m eager to keep pushing boundaries, seeking further silverware, and making additional history with this remarkable team.”
“The culture we’ve fostered here is something truly unique. From the staff to the players and the fans, it’s like family. I can’t wait to lead the team into this next chapter and see just how far we can reach, both domestically and beyond.”

Stott is currently in her second phase with City, having returned to the club in 2023 following the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The centre-back has since guided City to consecutive Ninja A-League Premiership titles, adding to the two Premierships and four Championships she earned during her initial tenure with the club.
In the 2024-25 season, Stott steered City through an unbeaten regular season, marking her third time contributing to an unbeaten campaign at City.
Regarded as “a true City legend” upon the confirmation of her new two-year contract, Stott has been praised by City’s director of football, Michael Petrillo, as an exceptional professional and an unparalleled leader.
“We’re thrilled to have Rebekah commit for another two seasons with Melbourne City,” Petrillo stated.
“She epitomises professionalism and embodies all the qualities we desire in our players. Her leadership, determination, and connection to the Club are unmatched.”
“Stotty sets the benchmark for her peers and continues to be instrumental in the success of our Women’s program. She has captained the team magnificently over recent years, and we have every confidence that she still has plenty of outstanding football ahead of her.”
