In a sensational display, Stephen Curry scored 52 points—12 of which came from three-point range—as the Golden State Warriors claimed a narrow 134-125 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday (AEDT).
Curry showcased his shooting prowess, hitting 16 of 31 attempts from the field, including 12 from 20 beyond the arc, matching his season high for three-pointers.
The superstar was a force to be reckoned with during the first half, nailing his initial five shots, four of which were from three-point territory. He racked up an impressive 32 points in the half, shooting 11 of 16 from the field and 8 of 10 from beyond the arc. After Curry’s final three-pointer before halftime, coach Steve Kerr could only shake his head in disbelief.

Teammate Moses Moody praised Curry’s brilliance post-game, stating, “That was a special performance from a special player.”
Curry now boasts 15 career 50-point games, surpassing LeBron James, who has 14.
His line of 52 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists marks the first occurrence of a Golden State player achieving such stats since Rick Barry’s performance of 64 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists against Portland on March 26, 1974.
In addition to his scoring, Curry passed Jerry West to move into 25th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. “I got a bit emotional about that,” Curry reflected on surpassing West. “It was special. In his memory. What he means to our organisation, the league, and the basketball world… that’s the logo.”
Warriors coach Kerr described Curry’s performance as “incredible,” expressing astonishment at a particular shot in the second quarter. “Fifty-two points with defenders all over him, all game long,” Kerr noted. “I’ve been watching him for 11 years, and even longer before I became his coach… You truly appreciate the magnitude of his talent.”
“The guy is amazing to watch,” Kerr added.
Despite the night’s significance, long-time teammate Draymond Green offered a more measured take when asked if it was Curry’s best game. “No chance,” Green shot back. “I’ve played with him for 15 years. I can’t recall the best one off the top of my head, but that ain’t it.”
Teammate Jimmy Butler added 27 points, while Green contributed 13 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists as the Warriors rose to fifth in the Western Conference standings.
On the other side, Ja Morant led the Grizzlies with 36 points and six assists, while Jaren Jackson Jr. finished with 22 points. Zach Edey achieved 10 points and 16 rebounds, but Memphis suffered its third consecutive loss.
This win allowed Golden State to overtake Memphis for fifth place in the standings, with the Warriors concluding a successful 3-2 road trip after already leading the season series 3-1.
Meanwhile, Memphis continues its downward trajectory, now precariously positioned near the play-in game line.
From February 2 to 19, Memphis had been second in the conference and held that position until the end of the month.
Golden State wraps up their six-game road trip with a match against the Lakers in Los Angeles on Friday, while the Grizzlies embark on a three-game Eastern Conference road trip, starting in Miami also on Friday.
