Parramatta Eels halfback Dylan Brown has the freedom to take his time exploring his future options, according to the newly appointed skipper and his halves partner, Mitchell Moses.
The speculation surrounding Brown intensified last month when his management circulated an email to all 16 NRL clubs and Rugby Australia officials, seeking interest and potential meetings.
Despite being officially contracted until the end of 2031, the final six years include options. Brown has until round 10 to activate the next three years of his contract, which is valued at nearly $1 million per season.
Moses experienced a similar situation regarding his contract in 2023, ultimately turning down lucrative offers from both the Bulldogs and the Tigers to continue wearing the blue and gold jersey.

In a media appearance on Friday, Moses expressed that the team has conveyed its support for Brown regarding his decision.
“I’ve been through it myself; I don’t think it’ll be a tough decision for him,” Moses remarked.
“We’ve had some discussions; however, he will make the call when he feels prepared.
“What he does off the field is something many don’t recognise — he has a substantial impact on the Parramatta community.
“I believe I perform my best football alongside Dylan. I genuinely hope he chooses to stay. He is aware of how much I enjoy playing with him, and the rest of the team feels the same way. Ultimately, it is his decision — he can take as much time as he needs.”
The Dolphins are currently viewed as the only club capable of accommodating Brown’s asking price within their salary cap; however, CEO Terry Reader stated on Nine’s Today that the club is not interested.
Moses has now stepped into the role of captain following Clint Gutherson’s surprising move to the Dragons.
On Friday night, the club also announced that chairman Sean McElduff would retire from the board.
The Eels are set to kick off their 2025 season against the Storm in Melbourne on March 9.
