South Sydney’s injury troubles have worsened as two of their promising young players, Peter Mamouzelos and Jye Gray, were unable to complete the match against the Knights.
Newcastle dominated the Rabbitohs at Magic Round, securing a convincing 30-4 victory that helped them regain some much-needed momentum.
The Rabbitohs entered the contest missing several crucial players. Latrell Mitchell was serving a suspension, and they were without Jamie Humphreys, Mikaele Ravalawa, Cody Walker, Jack Wighton, Alex Johnston, and Cameron Murray due to injuries.
Gray departed the field in the 58th minute after receiving a heavy knock to his thigh from Kai Pearce-Paul while making a run at the line. He was seen limping off, reportedly suffering from a corked quad.

Later in the game, Mamouzelos withdrew from a tackle against Leo Thompson, visibly distressed and holding his elbow.
The hooker appeared to be in significant discomfort as he sat on the ground while medical personnel attended to him.
“He’s in a lot of pain,” remarked Andrew Johns during the Nine coverage.
“Once again, we see injuries strike in pivotal positions.”

Following the match, Rabbitohs head coach Wayne Bennett confirmed that Mamouzelos had suffered a dislocated elbow.
“They can’t get it back into place at present, so he’s dealing with quite a bit of pain,” he stated.
Bennett expressed uncertainty about having any of his key players back, apart from Mitchell, who is still suspended.
Next up for South Sydney is a match against the Broncos, while the Knights will face off against the Titans.
