ACT Brumbies star Noah Lolesio was taken off the field on a stretcher due to serious injury concerns during Saturday’s Super Rugby Pacific clash against the Western Force at HBF Park.
In the first half, Lolesio found himself in a precarious position while trying to assist ball carrier Tom Wright during a ruck, where he was cleared out by several Force defenders.
“There’s obviously a significant amount of worry,” Cameron Shepherd stated on Stan Sport from the sidelines in Perth.

“We don’t want to jump to conclusions at this stage as there are numerous scans and checks to be made on Noah. However, one positive sign is that he can move his arms and legs. It has been confirmed that he has sustained a spinal injury.”
“At this time, we are unclear about the severity. Let’s hope for the best, but the fact that he can move his arms and legs is incredibly reassuring.”
Lolesio, who has been a key player for the Wallabies, is set to move to Japan for club rugby next year.

“This is a significant setback for Australian rugby,” remarked Tim Horan on Stan Sport.
“Is this the end of Noah’s season? What does this mean for his opportunities with the Lions?”
Declan Meredith came on to replace Lolesio in Perth.
This unfortunate incident coincidentally followed the previous night’s event where Lolesio’s teammate from the Wallabies, Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, was also stretchered off Allianz Stadium after receiving a knee to the head from Waratahs teammate Andrew Kellaway.
Suaalii was diagnosed with a category one concussion but was cleared of serious injury and was taken home by his parents.
The Brumbies held the lead at 14-7 at halftime, thanks to tries from Len Ikitau and Corey Toole, which overshadowed a solo effort by Force flanker Kane Koteka, who stepped in for Wallabies star Carlo Tizzano (pectoral injury).
