Anderlecht will face a significant setback with the absence of their top scorer, Kasper Dolberg, for the remainder of the regular season, as the Danish international is struggling to regain fitness following a knee injury.
Dolberg has been a standout performer this season, netting an impressive 20 goals for Anderlecht.
Unfortunately, the forward has recently been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained during a match against Charleroi earlier this month.
Initially, the club anticipated a swift recovery for Dolberg, who made his move to Anderlecht in July 2023.
However, it now appears unlikely that he will return before the conclusion of the regular season.
“Kasper Dolberg (knee), Yari Verschaeren (groin), and Tristan Degreef (back) are not yet fit for match play. Following several further examinations and with positive developments in recent days, their training loads will be slowly increased over the coming weeks. They are anticipated to be back in the matchday squad leading into the play-offs,” stated Anderlecht on their official website.
This leaves Dolberg’s availability in jeopardy for Denmark’s crucial Nations League quarter-final matches against Portugal on the 20th and 23rd of March.
The Belgian play-offs are set to commence at the end of March.
