Motorsport Australia is committed to advancing the professional development and career opportunities within the officiating community through its Senior Officials Development Program, a key priority highlighted by the Officials Working Group.
Launching in 2025, the Senior Officials Development Program will leverage the skills and insights of seasoned officials. The initial focus will centre on the pivotal roles of Race Director, Steward, and Technical Delegate.
Lisa Crampton, Motorsport Australia’s Sporting & Technical Director, will oversee the program, emphasising the significance of nurturing talent and ensuring the future viability of the sport through such initiatives.
“Motorsport Australia is dedicated to promoting and cultivating emerging talent into prominent roles, while also enabling ongoing mentorship from our most seasoned officials,” Crampton stated.
“The aim of this program is to inspire new leadership by sharing the knowledge and experience of our top officials in the field.”
The program will be spearheaded by Head Coaches David Mori (Race Director), Murray Slana (Technical Delegate), and Trevor Neumann (Steward), who are all highly esteemed within the sport. They will initially mentor 14 officials spanning various race categories, including GT3/GT4, TCR, Trans Am, Aussie Racing Cars, Off Road, F4, and SuperUtes.
Under David Mori’s mentorship, Owen Smith, Andrew Jorgensen, Damien Mitchell, and Jennifer Campbell will be supported. Murray Slana will guide Jason Galea, Shannon Smallpage, Jeff Birrell, and Kelli Stephens, while Trevor Neumann will assist Terri Woolhouse, Steve Ebenestelli, Kevin Hunter, Zac Dawes, Jenn Ellison, and Scott Long.
The Head Coaches will be instrumental in mentoring and developing the wider officiating community by providing timely guidance, education, and professional growth opportunities. This approach will equip officials with the necessary skills and experience to flourish and contribute to the overall success and sustainability of the motorsport community.
The 2025 program aims to establish a robust foundation for delivering a scalable learning and development framework that will benefit the entire officiating community and enhance the sport as a whole.
