Despite the ongoing upheaval within the club and disappointing performances this season, Manchester United continues to attract the interest of potential transfer targets, according to manager Ruben Amorim.
Currently sitting 14th on the table with just 38 points, United is on track for their lowest points total in Premier League history, having recorded a club record of 15 losses this season. Their previous worst was 58 points during the 2021-22 campaign, with only five matches remaining.
Meanwhile, the club’s chances of securing European football hinge on their success in the Europa League, where they have reached the semi-finals. To qualify for the Champions League, winning the tournament is essential, or they risk missing out on European competitions altogether.
“It’s Manchester United. I believe there are numerous players eager to join our club,” Amorim stated to the media ahead of the league match against Bournemouth on Sunday.
“I recognise that, given the current situation with various issues—people leaving, coaching changes, and less than favourable results—things may appear concerning at the moment.
“However, we possess a clear vision, which is the easiest aspect to convey to potential recruits. After all, it’s Manchester United; everyone aspires to play for Manchester United.”
Mason Rashford and Antony have showcased their talent during their loan periods, and with both returning at season’s end, Amorim indicated that decisions regarding their futures at the club will be made in due course.
Although Amorim has firm opinions on specific players, he acknowledged that circumstances could shift in the coming weeks.
“Anything is possible regarding transfers. Casemiro is the perfect example,” he remarked.
“He was a player who wasn’t seeing much game time, yet in recent matches, he has made significant contributions and is consistently delivering strong performances.
“I’m not the type of coach who refuses to change my mind. If players can alter my perspective, I’ll gladly accept that. My ultimate goal is to win and field the strongest team possible.”
Amorim also mentioned that defender Diogo Dalot might miss the concluding weeks of the season due to a calf injury, while Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt are nearing returns from their respective injuries.
