Western Bulldogs standout Rory Lobb is potentially facing disciplinary action following a spoil attempt that left Mason Cox injured and necessitated his exit from the game.
The Magpies emerged victorious, finishing the match at 10.16 (76) to 10.10 (70), depriving the Bulldogs of a proper celebration for their centenary, which was played under the Footscray name.
The incident involving Cox occurred with just over 10 minutes remaining in the final quarter as he attempted to take a mark.
“That’s a solid hit… Rory might find himself in a bit of strife,” Garry Lyon commented on Fox Footy.
Jason Dunstall expressed his understanding towards Lobb’s situation.

“It appears to be a genuine attempt to spoil… He’s going to have a nasty bruise,” Dunstall remarked.
After going straight to the sidelines, Cox was seen with two prominent cuts on his face.
The pair shook hands following the final whistle.
With the Magpies winning by a narrow six points, forward Dan McStay must have been terrified for much of the game after a shocking mistake just prior to half-time.
With Collingwood behind, McStay had a golden opportunity to level the scores with a simple shot from 20 metres out. Instead, he opted to pass to Tim Membrey, who was positioned inside the square, but instead missed him completely, resulting in a behind.
Coach Craig McRae placed his hands on his head in disbelief as the score shifted to 6.7 (43) to 5.8 (38) in favour of the Bulldogs.

“That’s just unforgivable, really, he had far too many options,” Lyon lamented.
Dunstall chimed in, stating: “He was trying to do the right thing by passing it to Membrey and muffed it. What a lucky break for them.”
Earlier in the match, Collingwood was forced to activate its substitute during the first quarter after young player Reef McInnes landed awkwardly in a marking contest.
The fullback’s fall during the round two clash led Fox Footy to believe it could be a serious ACL injury.
“He was in considerable pain and went straight off the field,” Lyon noted.
The Bulldogs managed to edge ahead in the first quarter, leading by six points, a scoreline that remained unchanged at half-time following McStay’s blunder.
By the end of the third quarter, Collingwood had turned the tables to lead by eight points.
Footscray fought back in the final quarter, and Joel Freijah’s goal with seven minutes to go evened the scores.
Shortly after, a behind from Jordan De Goey followed by Steele Sidebottom’s goal opened up a small lead.
Despite a spirited effort from the Bulldogs in the dying moments, they could only manage a behind from Lobb, granting Collingwood their second win of the season.
