The Roosters kicked off their NRLW season in spectacular fashion, crushing the Warriors, who were making their return, with a resounding 30-6 victory under the sunny skies at Allianz Stadium.
However, the joy was marred by injury concerns, as winger Jayme Fressard was forced to leave the field on a medicab while using a green whistle due to a suspected dislocated elbow sustained during the second half.
The injury appeared to occur when Fressard attempted to fend off Warriors winger Michaela Brake while sprinting towards the corner. Immediately, she grasped her arm at a peculiar angle, and after failing to ground the ball, it was clear she was in distress.
“She’s clutching that right elbow straight away… there’s definitely some deformity visible in that elbow,” commented Ruan Sims during the Nine broadcast as replays were shown.

Roosters winger Jayme Fressard was assisted from the field after a suspected dislocated elbow against the Warriors. Nine
Sims, who has experienced a dislocated elbow herself, described it as “awful” and “excruciatingly painful”.
Fressard’s absence is a significant setback for Roosters coach John Strange, given her versatility across the back line, which provides valuable flexibility for the team’s rotation.
For the Warriors, their return to the NRLW fell short of expectations, even though Patricia Maliepo’s try in the first half offered some cause for celebration among their supporters.

Taina Naividi was a standout, netting an impressive first-half hat-trick in just 16 minutes.
Leading 18-6 at half-time, the Roosters capitalised on a mistake from Matekino Gray to score just after the break.
Interestingly, the Warriors were also the opponents in the inaugural NRLW match back in 2018, where they triumphed 10-4.
