Roma forward Paulo Dybala has successfully undergone surgery to address a left thigh injury, as announced by the Italian club on Tuesday.
In their statement, Roma confirmed that “the surgical procedure conducted today… was entirely successful,” and noted that the forward “will commence rehabilitation in the upcoming days.”
The 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina sustained the injury during Roma’s 1-0 league victory over Cagliari earlier this month.
While Roma did not specify the duration of Dybala’s recovery, with just nine matches remaining in the current Serie A season, it seems highly likely that the 31-year-old will not return until the next season.
Dybala’s absence represents a significant setback for Roma, who have transformed from relegation contenders to one of the top-performing teams in Italy’s premier division since Claudio Ranieri’s return as manager in November.
In all competitions, he has netted eight goals and provided four assists, with Roma currently battling for Champions League qualification, sitting four points behind fourth-placed Bologna.
