Brisbane Roar’s hectic off-season continues with the announcement that the club has secured the services of seasoned goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis for the Isuzu UTE A-League 2025-26 season.
The former Melbourne City shot-stopper is returning to Australia after a stint with EFL Championship team Charlton Athletic.

Now at the age of 34, Bouzanis boasts a wealth of experience gained from his time playing overseas in both the UK and Europe, and he is set to vie for the starting position with goalkeeper Macklin Freke.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Roar, a large and successful club in the A-League,” Bouzanis expressed after finalising his contract.
“Upon returning and hearing about the club’s ambitions from Zac, Kaz, Michael, and the coaching staff was a significant factor in my decision.”
He continued: “I am eager to give my all every week and help secure victories.”
Bouzanis has initially signed a one-year contract ahead of the upcoming season, with an option for a further year contingent on his performance.

“Having previously worked with Dean, I look forward to seeing him back in the A-Leagues representing Brisbane Roar,” commented Roar head coach Michael Valkanis.
“Dean excels with his feet, has excellent ball distribution, and along with his shot-stopping skills, will be an asset for us in goal this season.”
He added: “His experience, leadership, and winning mindset will also be invaluable for the club.”
Bouzanis is the fifth addition to Brisbane’s squad this off-season, following the arrivals of Western United forward Michael Ruhs, Bosnian youth international midfielder Milorad Stajic, Championship winner James McGarry from Aberdeen, and the permanent signing of defender Hosine Bility, who previously joined on loan.
