Kylian Mbappe has been admitted to a hospital in the United States due to a bout of stomach flu, following his omission from Xabi Alonso’s squad for the 1-1 draw against Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the Club World Cup.
It has not been an easy few days for Mbappe during his stay in the United States. After being sidelined for Real Madrid’s opener in the Club World Cup, the French forward found himself hospitalised with gastrointestinal issues.
“Kylian Mbappe is experiencing an acute case of gastroenteritis and has been hospitalised for a series of tests and treatment,” Real Madrid stated in a succinct medical update posted on their website.
This situation underscores the seriousness of the issue that kept La Tortuga from contributing to the match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. If his recovery progresses well, Alonso is hopeful that he can reintegrate Mbappe into the lineup in the coming days.
