UEFA Champions League finalists Paris Saint-Germain capped off a remarkable week by securing a commanding victory in Ligue 1, with Gonçalo Ramos netting a hat-trick in a 4-1 triumph over relegated Montpellier, marking their 12th consecutive league win against the same opponents.
The home side sought to exploit Luis Enrique’s decision to field a weakened starting XI, creating a chance just five minutes in when Tanguy Coulibaly’s shot took a deflection, forcing PSG’s Ligue 1 debutant Arnau Tenas to pull off an impressive save. Tenas was also alert to deny Joris Chotard’s follow-up effort, ensuring the score remained level.
PSG struggled to make an impact until just after the half-hour mark when a long clearance from Tenas found Bradley Barcola, whose attempt struck the crossbar.
As the first half drew to a close, Ibrahim Mbaye squandered a chance to give PSG the lead when he was thwarted by Benjamin Lecomte. However, fellow teenager Senny Mayulu managed to find the net two minutes later.
His incisive pass to Warren Zaire-Emery deflected back off a full-back’s heel and fell perfectly for him, allowing him to find the top corner for his second goal of the season.
After finally breaking the deadlock, Les Parisiens wasted little time in extending their lead after the interval. Just four minutes in, Mbaye was set up on the right and squared the ball for Ramos, whose measured side-footed shot deflected off Yael Mouanga and eluded Lecomte.
Before the hour mark, Ramos added his second and PSG’s third, expertly converting a penalty after Desire Doue was brought down by Jordan Ferri.
Moments later, the home crowd at Stade de la Mosson had a reason to cheer when Ferri embarked on a dynamic run through the midfield, finding Coulibaly, who cut inside and blasted the ball past Tenas to make it 3-1.
However, any joy for Montpellier was short-lived. From the restart, PSG played the ball back to Tenas, whose long pass found Ramos at the edge of the box. He held off defenders to turn and fire in his hat-trick with a stunning strike that hit the bar.

Wahbi Khazri threatened a late consolation for Montpellier with two close attempts, but the hosts ultimately suffered their 13th defeat in 14 matches.
For PSG, this victory marked their first league win in four games, and they have now triumphed over Montpellier in their last three encounters with an impressive aggregate score of 16-3.
