Queens Park Rangers, a club in the Championship, announced on Wednesday that they have appointed Frenchman Julien Stephan as their new head coach.
The 44-year-old’s arrival follows the departure of Marti Cifuentes, who was placed on gardening leave after the club’s second-last match of the season.
Under Cifuentes, the team concluded the season in 15th place, managing to secure only two victories in their last 12 outings.
Stephan, who previously led Rennes to victory in the French Cup in 2019, is set to take the reins.
“I am incredibly proud and thrilled to be joining QPR,” he remarked.
“QPR is a club with a rich history, deeply ingrained values, and a passionate fan base, so it’s a real honour to be here. I wanted to come to this club because I recognise the immense passion surrounding both the club and the team, and I feel fortunate to experience it firsthand.”
CEO Christian Nourry commented: “Julien’s proven ability to nurture young talent into world-class players was pivotal in our decision to bring him on board.
“Additionally, his achievements at Rennes and Strasbourg demonstrate his capability to secure significant league successes.”
