The Eredivisie CV, the governing body for the Dutch football league, has unveiled portions of the draft schedule for the 2025/26 Eredivisie season.
Eredivisie director Jan de Jong expressed his excitement in revealing the preliminary details: “Once again, we have solved the impossible puzzle with limitless complexities!”
“We inputted a staggering 25 pages of desires and requirements, along with the challenges and possibilities, into a computer based in Barcelona, which utilised AI to create something truly remarkable. The complexities here in the Netherlands are unmatched anywhere else in Europe. It feels easier to send a rocket to the moon,” de Jong remarked on the Eredivisie website.
Home Matches for Key Teams
The 2025/26 Eredivisie season is set to commence on Friday, August 8th, with a clash between Fortuna Sittard and Go Ahead Eagles, who are also competing in the Europa League.
The reigning champions, PSV, will kick off their campaign with a home fixture against Sparta Rotterdam, whom they defeated on the last day of the previous season to clinch the title. The 26-time champions are scheduled to face Sparta on Saturday, August 9th, at 21:00 CET.
Ajax, the runners-up, will begin their season with a match against Telstar. The promoted club from IJmuiden is set to return to the Eredivisie for the first time since 1978, making their way back to the Johan Cruyff ArenA, where they were eliminated in last year’s KNVB Beker second round. The Ajax-Telstar match is slated for Sunday, August 10th, at 14:30 CET.
Feyenoord, managed by Robin van Persie, will be the first of the three Eredivisie powerhouses to start their season, as they welcome NAC Breda to Rotterdam on Saturday, August 9th. Van Persie’s inaugural full season in charge of the iconic Rotterdam club will commence at 18:45 CET.
Potential Late Showdown
In addition to the opening matches of the new Eredivisie season, the Eredivisie CV has also announced the fixtures for the season’s first Klassieker and key fixtures in the closing weeks.
The initial Klassieker, featuring Ajax and Feyenoord, is slated for just ahead of the Christmas break, taking place on Sunday, December 14th, in the Johan Cruyff ArenA.
As the season nears its conclusion, Ajax will host PSV in the penultimate week of the campaign. The following week, FC Utrecht will travel to Amsterdam, while Feyenoord faces AZ in the first of two rounds where all matches will occur simultaneously. PSV will wrap up the season with a home clash against FC Twente.
The complete schedule for the 2025/26 Eredivisie will be revealed on Wednesday, June 18th.
