Paris St Germain, reigning champions of Ligue 1, are intent on finishing the season without a loss, but their priority lies in securing trophies rather than simply setting new records, according to manager Luis Enrique ahead of Friday night’s home match against Nice.
Currently, PSG holds 78 points from 30 matches, having clinched their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title earlier this month. They are also gearing up for a Champions League semi-final clash with Arsenal scheduled for Tuesday.
The team is also aiming to defend their Coupe de France title against Stade de Reims in next month’s final.
“Our main goal is not about breaking records; it’s about winning titles. If someone were to guarantee that losing to Nice would send me to the Champions League final, I’d sign that deal right away,” Luis Enrique told the media.
“However, as no one can offer me such a guarantee, and considering we are an ambitious team in a position to set a record for invincibility in the league, I believe it’s crucial for our confidence to face Arsenal at our best.”

If successful, PSG could make history as the first team to navigate an entire Ligue 1 season unbeaten, and Luis Enrique highlighted the necessity of keeping their winning streak alive as the end of the season approaches.
After facing Nice, PSG will tackle their remaining league fixtures against Strasbourg, Montpellier, and Auxerre.
“Achieving that record reflects the quality of the team. We’ve shown progress and maintained solid and consistent performances, which is something we can take pride in,” the 54-year-old remarked.
“It should serve as motivation for us to remain fiercely competitive. As the season draws to a close, all our targets remain achievable, yet they also feel distant as our rivals share the same aspirations. This drives our motivation heading into the final stages of the season.”
With PSG’s Champions League first leg against Arsenal looming just four days after the match against fifth-placed Nice, Enrique was probed about potential player rotation.
“It’s much like the theory of relativity,” he explained. “Everyone views situations based on their own interests. With a blanket, you can cover either your head or your feet; you have to choose. Every coach has their own philosophy.”
