The authorities are aiming to have FC Copenhagen’s Mexican winger Rodrigo Huescas deported from Denmark following his charges of reckless driving in central Copenhagen.
In a report by B.T., the Copenhagen Police announced their intentions to expel Huescas from the country.
On Thursday, the police confirmed to B.T. that a formal request has been submitted to the court seeking the winger’s deportation.
Huescas has been accused of reckless driving, allegedly reaching speeds of 111 km/h in a 50 km/h zone at Kalvebod Brygge, located in the heart of Copenhagen.
Initially, it was suggested that he might face a sentence of 20 days in prison without the possibility of parole and risk having his leased BMW confiscated.
However, the stakes have now risen significantly, with deportation from Denmark becoming a real possibility.
Defence attorney Mikkel Cramer, who is not representing Huescas, remarked to Viaplay Sport News that:
“There is indeed a potential risk of deportation in this situation, but it will hinge entirely on whether the prosecution has requested it.”
He also noted that consideration would be given to the degree of Huescas’ ties to Denmark. The 21-year-old winger joined FC Copenhagen from Cruz Azul in the summer of 2024.
The hearing for Huescas’ case is scheduled for April 28.
