Premier League clubs have reached an agreement to initiate the transfer window earlier than usual, allowing a 10-day period in June ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, as announced by the league on Thursday.
This decision follows the ruling from FIFA, which allows member associations of clubs participating in the tournament the chance to activate an “exceptional registration window” in June to facilitate player signings.
“The window will be open early, from Sunday 1 June to Tuesday 10 June, due to the exceptional registration period associated with the FIFA Club World Cup,” stated the Premier League in their announcement.
“Subsequently, it will reopen on Monday 16 June and remain open until Monday 1 September.”
The Club World Cup, hosting 32 teams in the United States, is set to take place from June 14 to July 13, with Chelsea and Manchester City representing the Premier League this year.
