Everton’s goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has expressed his enthusiasm over Jordan Henderson’s return to the England squad.
The Ajax veteran and former captain of the Three Lions has been recalled by new manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Pickford remarked: “His passion for winning and the success he’s achieved are driven by his own determination.”
“He’s a true winner and a prominent leader. Bringing Hendo back into the fold is fantastic for the team.”
“He served as vice-captain for several years. Although he missed the last Euros, he was vice-captain during the 2018 campaign alongside Harry (Kane).”
“Having someone like Hendo in the squad is invaluable. Teams that achieve success always possess experienced leaders within their ranks.”
“It’s a brilliant decision to include him in the squad. No matter whether he’s on the pitch or not, his leadership will be evident during training.”
