Peter V’landys has acknowledged that he is “undecided” regarding his future as both the CEO of Racing NSW and the chair of the ARL Commission.
The 63-year-old has managed both positions for over six years, but recent reports suggest that he may be contemplating a reduction in responsibilities.
This could lead to V’landys resigning from his racing duties and potentially transitioning into a new executive chairman role within rugby league.
In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald, he stated that a decision about his future in both roles would likely be made by year’s end.

“I’ve done it for the last six years, and nothing’s really changed,” he remarked.
“I will reassess my situation at the end of the year and evaluate my plans for 2026.
“As of now, I remain undecided, just like I have been for the past six years. I always take the time to map out my future, but the day will come when I have to make a decision. It’s a reality for everyone, not just myself.

“Everyone’s expiry date arrives eventually. I’ve put myself in this position and have nobody to blame but myself. These are significant roles, but I was fully aware of what I was stepping into. It’s challenging—there’s no doubt about it.
“I doubt anyone would dispute that. I’ve undertaken this commitment, so if it requires extra effort, I’m prepared to put it in. However, there will come a time when I won’t be able to continue.
“When that time will be, I can’t say.”
Since taking on the role of chief executive at Racing NSW in 2004, V’landys has overseen a substantial transformation in the sport.
He played a key role in the establishment of The Everest, which has become one of the premier racing events on the calendar.
The upcoming fortnight is pivotal for racing in Sydney, as The Championships commence this Saturday at Royal Randwick.
