Perth Glory’s emerging talent, Grace Johnston, has received the coveted “wildcard” nomination for the 2024-25 Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year award in the Ninja A-League.
The 20-year-old central midfielder is the seventh player to be recognised for this honour in 2024-25, joining six other monthly nominees selected by a panel of technical football experts and media professionals during the Ninja A-League season. This panel votes on a 3-2-1 system at the end of each monthly nomination period throughout the season.
At the end of the regular season, the six monthly nominees will be joined by a wildcard selection; this nomination goes to the player who accumulates the most total votes over the season without receiving a monthly nomination.

Johnston, 20, joins a distinguished group of six other young talents in the Ninja A-League as the final player nominated for the Boost Mobile Young Footballer of the Year award for 2024-25:
- November: Mary Stanic-Floody, Canberra United
- December: Alexia Apostolakis, Melbourne City
- January: Indiana Dos Santos, Sydney FC
- January/February: Sienna Saveska, Western Sydney Wanderers
- March: Maddie Caspers, Sydney FC
- April: Annalise Rasmussen, Central Coast Mariners
- Wildcard: Grace Johnston, Perth Glory
Throughout the season, Johnston made 22 appearances for Perth, all of which were starts, marking the second-highest number of games played by any player at the club, just behind Naomi Chinnama.
Noteworthy is that two of Johnston’s appearances occurred after she celebrated her 20th birthday in early April; she logged a total of 1,669 match minutes as a teenager during the 2024-25 season—making her the fourth highest in the league for minutes played prior to turning 20.
