Pedro scores late double to secure vital draw for Lazio in home showdown with Parma

Lazio have now managed just one victory in their last 10 Serie A matches at the Stadio Olimpico, yet they clawed back from a daunting 2-0 deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Parma, inching closer to the coveted European qualification spots.

The home side’s struggles appeared set to persist from the outset, as Parma found the back of the net within the first three minutes — marking just their second goal in 12 away encounters.

Emanuele Valeri played a brilliant pass to Jacob Ondrejka inside the area, who expertly placed the ball into the bottom corner.

Parma looked strong early on, with Simon Sohm coming close to extending their lead, but his attempt was comfortably saved by Christos Mandas.

As the first half progressed, Lazio started to assert themselves, with Nicolo Rovella narrowly missing the target from the edge of the box. Just before the half-hour mark, Taty Castellanos forced Zion Suzuki into a significant save.

Castellanos also had a goal disallowed for offside before the break, but despite Lazio gaining some momentum, Parma stunned them with another goal right after half-time.

Ondrejka struck again, this time delivering an even more impressive shot from long range that clipped the post before rolling in.

Mateo Pellegrino had a chance to seal the victory shortly after, finding himself unmarked in front of goal, but Mandas was up to the task, making the stop.

At the other end, Luca Pellegrini saw his effort saved by Suzuki from close range. Mandas continued to shine, making an impressive save from a strike by Dennis Man soon after.

This proved crucial, as Lazio narrowed the gap late in the match, with Pedro firing an exceptional shot into the top corner.

Remarkably, Pedro then completed his brace with a header from Pellegrini’s cross, ensuring Lazio avoided defeat.

The draw brought an end to Lazio’s impressive 11-match winning streak against Parma at home, while the visitors will be equally disappointed at conceding two late goals to relinquish their lead.

As a result, they have only secured a single win on their travels throughout the league campaign.
