Palermo have confirmed the hiring of Filippo Inzaghi as their new head coach, with a two-year deal commencing from July 1st. The contract includes an option for a third year if the team secures promotion to Serie A. Known for his expertise in guiding teams to higher divisions, Inzaghi is now tasked with leading the club back to the top tier of Italian football.
The announcement of Inzaghi’s appointment marks a new chapter for the Rosanero club, with the coach hailing from Emilia set to commence his role under a two-year contract, effective from July 1st, with the potential for an extension in case of Serie A promotion.
“We wholeheartedly welcome Inzaghi to Palermo, alongside the City Football Group, president Mirri, and the entire Rosanero family,” stated the club in their official announcement.
Inzaghi, a Piacenza native who is now 51, was renowned as one of the finest strikers of his generation, netting a total of 291 goals during his club career—most of which were during his lengthy 11-year tenure at AC Milan—and scoring 25 for the Italian national side.
Inzaghi embarked on his coaching journey in the 2014/2015 season with AC Milan. He later took charge of Venezia, Benevento, and Pisa, achieving three promotions from Serie B to Serie A. Palermo is now looking for him to accomplish a fourth.
