Former Manly outside back Alfred Smalley is facing a significant suspension following a reckless high tackle on an opponent during a NSW Cup match, which culminated in him flopping on the player while he lay on the ground, concussed.
Smalley received his marching orders in the last minute of the Eels’ NSW Cup clash against the Warriors after dashing out of the defensive line and delivering a heavy hit to Warriors fullback Taine Tuaupiki.
The Warriors No.1 was escorted off the field and subsequently failed a head injury assessment.
This shocking incident sparked a fracas between players from both teams.
The game at Kellyville Park in Parramatta wrapped up with a disappointing end for the Eels, who lost to the Warriors 46-22.
The Mole, a rugby columnist for Wide World of Sports, took to social media to label the incident a “horrific dog shot.”

A match report on the official Warriors website stated: “Smalley was sent off in the closing moments of the match for an appalling high tackle on Tuaupiki that left the fullback completely unconscious.”
Smalley, aged 25, has had two NRL appearances for Manly in 2022.
Tuaupiki, also 25, has played 20 matches in the top grade for the Warriors and is contracted with the club until the end of the 2026 season.
