Warriors CEO Cameron George has stated he will stand by assistant coach Richard Agar should he choose to contest his breach notice linked to an alleged incident in Las Vegas.
Agar faces a charge for violating the league’s code of conduct following an alleged altercation with a journalist after the team’s season opener against the Raiders.
The 53-year-old is expected to incur a $10,000 fine and a three-match suspension.
He has five days from Monday to respond to the notice, but failing to do so would mean he cannot participate in any gameday activities.
George acknowledged that a decision on whether the club and Agar would challenge “parts of the breach notice” was still pending as of Wednesday.
“I need to speak with Richard about each aspect of the breach notice,” he told SEN.

“I understand the position the NRL is taking. There’s no justification for behaviour like that. We’ll have to decide if we accept the penalty and move on or if we challenge specific aspects of it.
“Everyone will have their own interpretation of the situation, and Richard certainly has his.”
“I’ll discuss it with Richard first, but I have told him, ‘We could have managed that situation significantly better if it were to happen again.’
“He is very conscious of that and has expressed remorse regarding his actions both personally and professionally. He understands, from his and the club’s point of view, that we prefer not to encounter such issues.”

George acknowledged that while the Warriors do not endorse Agar’s conduct, the club will continue to support him during this period.
“If Richard believes certain elements are undeniably incorrect, I will certainly back our staff and players in attempting to rectify that,” George stated.
“I’d like to emphasise that there is no reason for such conduct to occur. As a club, we hold a responsibility to the game.
“While we do not condone that behaviour, we will nonetheless support Richard.”

Head coach Andrew Webster reinforced George’s sentiments, asserting that the off-field incident would not significantly hinder the team’s preparation for round three.
“When you have key players sidelined, you always look to the next steps,” Webster stated.
“Richard is a highly experienced assistant coach with an excellent track record. I’d prefer to have him by my side every week.
“It will be business as usual. We have enough seasoned coaches in our ranks, and it’s just like dealing with the absence of a key player; we have a plan in place, and we’ll be fine.”
