The reigning Premiers and the 2024/25 ‘invincibles’, Melbourne City, secured first place in the final round of the season, granting them a week off and a two-legged Semi Final match-up against the lowest-ranked Elimination Final victor.
Urban rivals, Melbourne Victory, are also enjoying a week’s respite after narrowly finishing in second place behind City. Victory will go up against the highest-ranked Elimination Final winner in the other Semi Final during weeks two and three of the Finals Series.
The opening week of the Ninja A-League 2025 Finals Series will feature two high-stakes Elimination Finals.

Adelaide United will take on Western United in the first Elimination Final at Coopers Stadium on Sunday, 27 April, after finishing third thanks to a tightly contested 2-1 win over Sydney FC, with former Sky Blues forward, Fiona Worts, scoring twice against her old team.
The second Elimination Final will see Central Coast Mariners host Canberra United at Industree Group Stadium on the same day, after the Mariners clinched fourth place with a dramatic come-from-behind 2-1 victory over the Newcastle Jets in the F3 Derby.
A-Leagues Executive Chair, Hon. Stephen Conroy remarked: “It’s been an extraordinary season in the Ninja A-League Women, showcasing thrilling matches, top-tier football, and over 400 goals.”
“The fact that the Premier’s Plate and the top six positions were confirmed in the last round is a testament to the quality and competitiveness across the league. It’s been fantastic to witness international stars shine and the emerging talent pushing the competition forward.”
“We’re excited for what promises to be an action-packed finals series, culminating in crowning the next Champion on either 17 or 18 May.”
