As the day arrives for players to hang up their boots, many take the opportunity to reflect on those who have profoundly influenced their careers. For Nicho Hynes, that player is Briton Nikora.
Nikora experienced a memorable milestone on Thursday as the Sharks staged an impressive second-half recovery to secure a 30-18 victory against the visiting Dragons.
The 27-year-old marked his 150th game with flair, charging over to spark a flurry of tries in the 48th minute, which also celebrated his 50th NRL try.
His efforts through the middle were pivotal for his teammates, yet it is his unassuming charisma and deft skills with the ball that will always be remembered by those around him.
“That’s the foundation of his career,” Hynes remarked on Nikora’s brilliant try during an interview with Nine.
“He’s only about 90 kilos but he runs so fiercely, playing with immense passion.”

Ultimately, amidst all his teammates across various levels, Hynes acknowledges that Nikora will always stand out in his memory.
“When my career comes to a close, I’ll look back and feel immense gratitude for having played alongside him,” he continued.
“He’s an exceptional player to have on your side.”
“He’s one of the best I’ve ever played with.”
Cronulla’s captain McInnes echoed this sentiment, referring to Nikora as a “humble superstar” in the sport.
“Briton is quite reserved and goes about his business quietly,” said McInnes.
“He didn’t want to make this game all about him… He’s incredibly important to our squad, and we all wanted to deliver a strong performance for him.”
